Carrom Board
A carrom board is a square wooden board used for playing the game carrom, a popular tabletop game in South Asia and other parts of the world.
Basic details:
-
Shape & Size: Usually square (about 74 cm × 74 cm for tournament size) with a smooth polished surface.
-
Corners: Each corner has a circular pocket to catch the coins.
-
Borders: Raised wooden edges (called bumpers) to rebound the striker and coins.
-
Playing Pieces:
-
Carrom men (coins): 9 white, 9 black, and 1 red (called the queen).
-
Striker: A heavier disc used to hit the coins.
-
-
Powder: A fine powder (often boric powder) is sprinkled to make the surface smooth.
How it’s played:
Players flick the striker to pocket coins into the corner pockets, aiming to score points. The queen is the most valuable piece and must be “covered” by pocketing another coin immediately after it.
